Mesh Mashup Assignment
Multitude of Phrases
Remix Culture is an important part of creative process for all artists. In a way we all partake in Remix Culture, as artists we often take certain elements from things observed and implement them in our art or in the development of our art styles. In my experience as a young artist I took heavy inspiration from the media I had been into at the time; Even through my art today you can occasionally guess the media that first inspired me to seriously create art. Whether this process is conscious or unconscious, it is integral for the advancement of our art. I like the idea that remix culture is like building off and possibly changing the meaning of something that had already been in existence.
Sleeping with the Fishes
This concept was inspired by the saying Sleeping with the fishes which in actuality means to be killed and/or to have ones body disposed of in water. I though it would be funny to play upon this by creating a scene of a bed underwater.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place
This concept was based on the phrase Between a Rock and a Hard Place. Which refers to being in a difficult situation or having to make a difficult choice. I used a rock model and figure model in the warrior yoga pose as well as a platform model with a mechanical arm attached. I wanted the scale of the rock and platform to be much larger than the figure to give the model a heightened sense of danger. I also wanted the platforms to look like they were advancing towards the figure because of the arms attached.

Fish Out of Water
Inspired by the saying Fish Out of Water which indicates a state in which someone is in a uncomfortable unfamiliar situation. I used a fish model and two legs off this elephant model I found which had really really buff human legs. My intent was to just create a fish who was ready to traverse the land.

Bury the Hatchet
The phrase Bury the Hatchet or To Bury the Hatchet means to end a conflict. I used a gravestone and axe model. I feel this one is pretty to the point and not as elaborate as I would want.

Welcome to Jurassic Park
I was inspired by these dinosaur models to parody this certain scene from Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park. My concept was to create the scene as if it was a child that was playing with their figures. The dinosaurs are place upon a small circular carpet with the T-rex being the highest of them all being precariously place on a pillow. While the two Pterodactyls are hung up by some string. I used a transformers model and two armored figures to mimic the three in the bottom left of the actual scene but also to mimic as toys a child might actually have.

Downwards Dog
I thought it would be funny to do one based on this particular move (downwards dog) that I would frequently do during yoga classes. The pose looks similar to a dog stretching (which I presume is why it is called downwards dog) so I thought to create a scene as if it were dogs taking a yoga class. I also remember falling asleep during many classes during the resting period so I thought to put a sleeping dog in the back.

Crying Over Spilt Milk
Crying Over Spilt Milk means to feel upset or sorry over something that has already happened or something that cannot be changed. My concept was a fountain with its feature being a head weeping milk. I was inspired by those stone fountains with children ornaments so when I found this crying head model I thought it to be perfect as it was in a similar style. I used the stream from a cup pouring its contents out as the milk.

Let The Cat Out Of The Bag
For this piece I was inspired by these many cat models to do the phrase let the cat out of the bag which means to reveal a secret. I was first inspired by the many cat models I found so naturally after I found a bag model for the tiny cats to crawl out of. I feel as this one is pretty self explanatory.

Pufferfish
I was inspired by pufferfish and how they inflate as a self defense mechanism. I thought they inflate like balloons so I took some balloon models and turned them into pufferfish. I also combined a helium tank model and a balloon model to demonstrate how the other pufferfish came to be. The fish and octopus models were just to communicate more strongly that this was an underwater scene and the balloons were fish.

Bite The Bullet
To bite the bullet is to accept and endure impending or current hardship/pain. I took a very literal stance on this phrase by depicting a skull actually just bite a bullet. I found both a skull and bullet model then posed the top of the skull and the jaw so as to make it look like the skull was biting a bullet.

Bee Knees
I was inspired by these cute bee models to do the expression the Bees Knees which refers to a highly admired person or thing. I thought it would be funny to use the legs I took from the elephant model and combine them with a beehive to illustrate this expression. I also added bee models I initially found; I tried to scatter them around and pose them to make them look as if they had just exited the hive.
